Re: Self check

I think youll probably get an email from VM saying something like "I'm Richard Bransons beard and your doubling is coming! But you have a modem that may not get the full benefit. Call xxxx to speak to Inida and try to get them to ship you a Superhub with its Unbeatable Wifi and life changing properties!"

If you ignore that and stay with your existing kit, when the doubling is done you'll still get the new config and extra speed. The VMNG300 can handle 100meg with its 4 downstreams. The roll out of 8 downstreams will just mean the Superhub will probably handle congestion better, but that remains to be seen as its all theory until 8 downstreams roll out.

What you really should do is take the offer up and get a superhub sent out, but say on your existing kit. Then if there are problems post doubling, you can swap to the superhub and have it activated much faster than waiting for one to be sent out then.

You can't have a shub sent out, according to masque it's engineer install only.

It is supposed to be a manned install but you may get someone happy to just upgrade you it has happened but it is not the correct process.

So it is going to take a year for them to do the rollout and upgrades and then you'll be waiting another year for an engineer to come out (and that is if you don't have to wait a year inbetween for 4 million shubs to be produced

No, you can't get 100mb installed without an engineer (well, not unless you make a big fuss, but then according to Masque any customer service agent who gives you what you want is doing their jobs wrong).

Ths Superhub itself can and is sent out regularly as self-install on lower tiers.

According to BenMcr, Superhubs will be sent out as self install to customers on lower tiers and current 50mb users as part of their speed doubling to 100mb. It's been "confirmed" that the requirement for engineer install on 100mb will be dropped when 50mb becomes 100.

Correct.

But what if when my speed is doubled from 50mb to 100mb, would i then need an engineer to come out if i decided to up to 120mb

The would be no need as you would be already on !00Mb and your power levels will be fine.

This was a response to ferret who was talking about the speed doubling, not upgrades to 100meg. Which are still manned installs.

So its going to be odd having people who are doubled from 50 to 100 just getting a turd in a box while people upgrading from 50 to 100 will have to have an engineer out to install and polish said superhub.

100mb power levels would be exactly the same as 50mb, which also required engineer install so that makes no sense.

It is down to Virgin Media as they are the client and they have to do as they require, it may not make much sense but there you go.
