Re: Does iPhone 4S work on Virgin Mobile UK?
I went into the VirginMedia shop today to buy a new phone for my other half and the guy said they would be supplying micro SIMs from February.
So who knows.... they might be offering iPhones soon after? |

Re: Does iPhone 4S work on Virgin Mobile UK?
I have also heard that microsims coming in Feb 2012.
My phone has worked with a cut down sim with no real problems, and the settings just seemed to be there and worked from the off, even with my old large chip on the sim, such that I had to cut the metal part of the sim. I have an issue though now with the virgin/orange network coverage. When on the virgin network I can collect cellular data etc with no problem, but if I move to orange 3G I get an error message saying I am not subscribe to a cellular data network, and so I cannot collect email or connect to the internet. I have been told by virgin that the APN settings are the same for both networks, but they have not been able to help sort this at present. Apple say this is a network provider issue, in that clearly when on orange some of the settings must be incorrect. On Virgin you do not have access to the APN settings page as you do with some network providers so I cannot see these settings. Any thoughts? |

Re: Does iPhone 4S work on Virgin Mobile UK?
Surly that's for O2?
Does it work with Orange? It's ok if you've got a sim for the other network. |
Re: Does iPhone 4S work on Virgin Mobile UK?
You use the sim from another *supported* network to make the phone bring up the apn settings which are hidden when you put a virgin sim in. (some virgin sims just pick up the mobile settings as needed but not all of them). I happened to have an o2 sim to hand to use when I was doing it - the only reason I used that was as I mentioned above to make the phopne bring up the APN setting menu.
You would not need to use the workaround for either orange OR t-mobile as they are officcialy supported. |
Re: Does iPhone 4S work on Virgin Mobile UK?
To get data on the Orange network you need to enable data roaming in the settings.

Re: Does iPhone 4S work on Virgin Mobile UK?
I can confirm that an iPhone 4S will indeed work on Virgin Mobile (US) and upon my visit to The UK, I didn't find any problems running in on their towers. So I can't imagine it being to much of a problem.

Go to an o2 store and ask for an unlock code, a quick Google states that it should cost £15.
