Well my friend lives just a few blocks away from me and he's on BT FTTC and on his up to 40Mbps plan he gets around 20-25Mbps down, 8Mbps up. I get 50Mbps down 5Mbps up on VM. Sure, my upload isn't as good but my download is about double. Having said that, 100Mbps is available here.

The majority of FTTC customers (75%+) get 35mbps+

Course now I'm moving out of a cable + fttc area into plain ADSL(2+) none of this matters till 80/20 comes out.
