You need the repull because you have a fault so if you cancel the fault will not go away.

So what do you want a service that is faulty but you continue to pay for it.

Or a service that is working because you had the repull done.

It is your choice but a repull is only booked if required so to cancel it would be rather silly don't you think.

Funny how VM dont have issues doing repulls yet BT do everything possible to avoid swapping cables including threatening silly charges.

This part of the service VM are light years ahead of BT.

Re: So am getin a Repull

An explanation for some of the need for repulls may be in the grade of cable actually used between the cabinet and home. Certainly back in the 1990s when my house was first cabled I was told they used RG6. After a few years Cable and Wirless having taken over Nyne decided the cable was at fault (I always had terrible interference on one of the Sky Movies analogue channels). A repull using RG11 cable fixed it.

You must be far away from the cab then Rob,hence they used the thicker option RG11.

I havnt got any faults. The engineer came 2day my house and fixed the broadband fault. When he came back from the cabinet. He said the cables I hav r old and need replacing wit new ones. The nice gentleman also arranged the repull when he got in his van.

Also I wanted ask this:
Why get the repull even tho all my virgin media services are working fine?

Wazz how old are you? Your posts are driving me crazy!!!

I had a repull last week as my power levels were -6dBmV and that is the best the engineer could get them as they were originally -12dBmV where i was getting huge amounts of packet lose which you can see from the graph below, the cable was replaced for a far thicker 1 and a 3dB FPA added to the back of my modem and my power levels are now 0.5dBmV and with an ok looking graph i think.

Just make sure they check your levels before leaving!

After cable replaced

p.s i was charged £49 for a repull.................. kidding it was FREE of course. :)

Yes and I answered your question. All fault related call-outs from VM are free, gratis, nada.

Because after going out to your property they ascertained that the best way to fix your issue was to do a repull.

From what you've posted about the reason for the repull it would suggest that the cable is getting old and old cable could have water ingress, be brittle with age or might have been chopped off that many times that it's stretched to hell.

Think of it this way.. If you have an old car that's been repaired many, many times.. No matter how many times you repair it it'll run inefficiently and is likely to break down again. Where as if you replace it with a new car it's going to be a lot more reliable.

To answer your other questions.. a repull shouldn't take long (you might be off-line for an hour or two and will not cost you anything.. In fact I wonder whether the repull will be on your account as a fault or just put down as needed maintenance on the system, in that case you probably couldn't cancel it if you tried...(it would be like you trying to stop the council relaying your road.. you might not think you need it but it's gonna be done anyway.)
