Broadcast: Bid Media puts new Freeview slot up for sale - Channel to close as early as October on Freeview.

A new Freeview EPG slot has been put up for grabs with the aim of getting a channel on air as early as October.

The 24-hour Multiplex A channel has been created through the release of additional capacity, and airtime broker Bid Media is handling the sale based on a three-year contract. The current owner of the slot is not known.

DTT management company DMOL will decide where the channel sits on the EPG, with channel 53 thought to be a likely slot.

I think Freeview may look like this from October.

Mux A:
Challenge will be use by Yesterday +1
Unuse channel (on CITV Stream) will be use by Big Deal 2.

Mux C:
Pick TV +1 will close on Freeview and reuse by BSkyB for Challenge.

The names on this post is from the ofcom list, Pick TV +1 may close to save BSkyB some money.

Mirror: Olympics radio station to be launched by BBC.

The BBC is to launch a temporary Olympics radio station for London 2012.

The plan for a new digital and online service was given the go-ahead by the BBC Trust today.

It has also approved plans to devote youth channel BBC3 to broadcasting the event next summer for its duration.

But Freeview viewers will lose BBC Parliament to free up the broadcasting capacity on Freeview, but it will resume if Parliament is recalled in that time.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/london-...5875-23346684/

The 2012 Summer Olympics are planned to take place between 27 July 2012 and 12 August 2012.

In other news: Virgin Media sold 50% of UKTV to Scripps Networks Interactive.

Virgin Media has today sold their half of UKTV (Who run G.O.L.D, Home, Really, Dave, Dave Ja Vu and Yesterday on Freeview) to Scripps Networks Interactive (Who also run Food Network on Freeview.)
