That may give a skewed view (as might this forum too). Bear in mind that people who don't have problems won't generally post.

Agreed but it gives an idea of the software problems out there , and features not yet available. It's no more skewed a view , than checking the VM website which makes no reference to its lack of red button , or if it does its hidden in the small print.

Negativity comes from experience i'm affraid,I have been a VM and Sky HD customer for many years and unfortunatly VM always appear to have the inferior hardware/software,what I would say is no other supplier can match VM for Broadband they are,in my opinion, excellent, so to sum up it's negativity bourne from past and current experience (i've just returned my 1tb TiVo box).

l think you should have given your tivo box more time as there are many excellent things coming to it and l suspect a update would have sorted any problems out.

I pointed the OP in the direction of the official VM TIVO support forum and still I'm.condemned for it

Care to enlighten me on why people are whingers for reporting problems.

What you never had you never miss, so you wont get it

I actually find it quite humbling and I think you should stick to your principles and just watch TV live, whats on and when it's on - in fact you might even start a trend/movement :o)

i used to do a lot of recording years ago, when VHS video taping was all the rage and there was no such thing as digital TV!

apart from possibly the sport channels i cannot think of TV shows/flims that are not repeated, some times seemingly endlessly either the same night or later in the week, and if i do miss the repeat then i simply use the catch up TV on demand.

:)

Agreed on that. I remember when I was on Sky and had one of the first Sky+ Boxes. It was a fun time. Waiting each month to look in the sky guide at what new features will or might be added.

I am hoping Tivo will be the same. I am not expecting miracles from the start.

Well in regards to catch up on demand you get the I-PLAYER app that has more content on than the app than you do in the normal catch up menu?

I wasn't condeming you, I was passing on my views on a lot of the posts and the overall impression I get from reading that forum.

There is nothing wrong with reporting 'problems' but it seems to me that a lot of people on there blow minor things, that niggle them (many of them on the fix list), way out of proportion. Doing so, they are putting people off an excellent product, which leaves the V+ standing.

There seem to be so many people bleating on (Yeah, I did say bleeting on) about being beta testers. The tivo I have does everything I want and way more than V+ did. And it does it as it should. There could be improvments, some of which are coming ('ve posted the ones I'd like both here and on the VM forum), but the negativity on the VM forum from a lot of posters, I find unjustified and irritating.

I do agree that VM should make people aware before ordering that Red Button and Live events are currently not on the Tivo and will be added later. But that's the only major issue in my view and the lack of them shouldn't have stopped Tivo being released when it was; if people want those things, they can hold on to the V+ a little longer and those of us who don't care about them can get advanced functionality now.
