Haven't heard the tower version but I can see how it would work.

I remember when I first heard this thirty odd years ago one of my mates was almost driven to distraction trying to work it out. I gave up after about 5 minutes!

Nope you're a prisoner in a tower with two guarded doors, one leads to an escape tunnel and the other to the dungeons and there's a guard on each door.....................

A bus driver was heading down a street in Colorado. He went right past a stop sign without stopping he turned left where there was a "no left turn" sign and he went the wrong way on a one-way street.
