maybe you won't muppetman but I will,I've had both TiVo and Sky HD and the result is the TiVo's going back!!!,until VM and TiVo sort out the numerous bugs and poor picture quality I will have to stick with Sky HD,perhaps I was expecting to much with reading all the hype but IMO TiVo is miles behind............waits for responses............

If you don't feel it is suitable for you, that is the right action.

I've only had a brief tinker around with VM TIVO in the VM store and its feature list is impressive as it's new tech bugs are to be expected however I cannot comment on how many there are as I haven't used one at home. In 2-3 months with Sky+HD I've been really impressed with the software I haven't had to reboot once , I had Sky+HD from launch before going to VM and in my eyes the software is a lot more stable now. I have the latest Amstrad DRX890 and it's been great on sys 26.80 , I think some of the curent software problems are with older boxes since the Anytime+ upgrade. The only real comparison I can make is to the V+ and in my eyes the Sky+HD is miles better apart from on the tuner front which will be important to some I get around this by using my Sky+ app and set SL on other airings. I'm not slating the V+ however as I found it pretty reliable on the whole.

By all means you do what's right for you. However, please lets not pretend that Sky+ is perfect.

Sky+ Bugs
Sky+ poor picture quality

Yes, some posts are a few years old but not all of them.

I think there is far more right with Tivo than wrong with it.

Obviously Carl Kop32 doesn't agree , he's used both boxes and come to his conclusion , I think he's in a better place than me and you to comment after all both of us haven't used both boxes at length.

Abosolutely, which I why I said "by all means do what's right for you" right at the top of my post :)

I started this thread about a very positive and useful feature that I and discovered about TiVo. It is now degenerating into the old SKY v VM again. I know I strayed off topic myself but let's not waste time going over old arguments about which is best between the two platforms.:)

I agree with you in the fact that Sky is not bug free itself however most of the bugs seem to be affecting Thomson , Pace and Samsung boxes , they now only install Amstrad DRX890 and are offering these to replace Thomson boxes as they won't run Anytime+ , in my time with Sky+HD I haven't had a single reboot and the only problem I have had is a recording that said it had recorded however on playback there was just a bluescreen , this was on Sys 26.70 I've not had any at all since 26.80 and trust me I record lots. I am not doubting anybody over TIVO as I can't compare and the TIVO does offer more advanced features , I guess Kop32 is viewing this from the stability of the software on both boxes.

Re: I have just discovered that...

I have had one, maybe two, spontaneous and something like three forced re-boots on my Tivo so it's not a problem that affects everyone.

Much like the Sky+ I guess ;)

The point.... swings and round-a-bouts... six of one... etc..

lol :d Back on topic its a good feature , at least you can pause a show while you setup SL or check what time something is on.

You can set recordings from the Miniguide without interrupting live TV.

True, but that is - unfortunately - limited to one-off recordings so is of limited use :(

Even with all the current bugs and quirks of the TIVO some of which really annoy me, hell would freeze over before I'd return the box, the new features really work for me, just hoping that VM keep working on the problems and features missing from the V+ are added and its not too long before an update is ready

The tivo will only get better with the updates to come and with all the little bugs which will soon smooth themselves out as well.

Maybe I didn't make myself clear in the original post. Where this TiVo feature really excels is that if you are in delayed TV where you have previously paused the channel or where you have rewound a buffered channel you can pause play at any point and go straight to any of the TiVo menu options where you have full functionality. When you are finished checking or making selections just press TV and your paused programme is available to resume play.

I have had many PVR/DVR models over the years and none allowed you to pause delayed TV and gain access to all the menu functions. You would get a message to exit delayed TV. I hope this makes it clearer.:)
