You don't actually have to. VM seem to be allowing people to return them within a month. If you don't think it is worth it as present, ask them to take it back.

I think you are missing my point,if you read all the press from VM they are saying that the TiVo system is all singing all dancing, nowhere does it actually say most of the features will be coming soon,I have also got Sky HD and have had for a number of years and their system has been seamless (no need to reboot the box every other day and no lock ups etc)

What features are "coming soon" that VM are saying the TiVo box Already HAS?

Well I have had one lock up in nearly three weeks and that was when I was messing about. Sky software isn't perfect. There is a long long thread in the DS sky forum pertaining to bugs in the software and people are still posting problems months and years after the software was released. I'm glad it has been perfect for you though.

Sky+HD software Sys 26.80 has been 100% reliable for me however yes your right there are some with issues. To be honest my V+ service was pretty good with not to many issues , I cannot comment on TIVO as I haven't used it in the home environment for any length of time.

I'm glad it has muppetman. The point I was making though is that Sky do not have a perfect record for software releases. Quite the opposite. And when I first had a V+ several years ago it wasn't bug free.

its will be the best decision you can make if you decide to get a tivo as it will knock the spots off Sky,s box.;)

No software is ever 100% bug free , I know with Sky there's been issues with Subtitles but as I don't use them its not affected me , and I was agreeing with you.

Define "most" because, as far as I can see, "most" of the features, certainly the core ones - are already here.

I can't remember my last Tivo lock-up or re-boot; but I'll bet I can find plenty of forum/blog posts about current Sky+ isssues too.

Carl I have already stated there have been problems since Anytime+ software , my software has been stable and I have never rebooted it once , the only one issue was a recording I tried to play back that wasn't there despite saying recorded , however this was on an earlier software version. TIVO is bound to have the odd issue and anyone who doesn't expect that hasnt got a clue. There are forum/blog posts about software issues on every box out there.
