the thread also implies that either device would be fully functioning

Well as the Superhub isn't fully functioning for a number of people...........

I voted for modem as it preserves customer choice and needs. As far as I'm concerned all any ISP has to do is supply the connection to one PC via a modem.

What's the point of supplying wireless routers/hubs if they won't (or rather can't) give wireless support. I don't know of any ISP that does or will and rightly so due to the huge inconsitancies in a given premesis.

ok then for my recast take one of the standalone and add to both result. :)

The idea is a good one for a combi unit but they should never have rolled it out so forcefully as the only option, that was the big mistake.

this is a very good point, isp's are trying to do too much these days.

supplying security software, custom routers etc. Ultimately all they should do is supply a connection to a single modem and thats it.

Want to recast your vote again Chrys?

Re: Modem only or Modem/Router

nah I will stick to both. I think there is little harm if the end user can at least choose the modem.

The ideal situation would probably be modem supplied as part of service or for extra optional small fee to all in one device sold under the guise its cheaper for the user than to go out and buy one and its a device that VM will support. Common sense, everyone is happy and more cost effective.

That would seem reasonable IMHO

if there was a standalone option, I would be upgrading to 100mb, as there isnt its 50 for me

I think he means modem/router combined. That's what the POS is anyway.

Re: Modem only or Modem/Router

I'd say they should have a modem router combo with bridge mode, I'd say 90% of customers would be happy with that and the others can use bridge mode. I suppose that way they can MAss produce them. Hopefully they bring out a v2

the option in the vote is for whether VM should supply a modem/router combined or a standalone modem, in theory, not a choice from the equipment they already supply, more of a generalisation
