Hmm you are being a bit to critical me thinks. Stop running so many speed and ping tests. There is no real need for you to do that.

Hope they let you leave so you can hassle another supplier. The usual :D

Anyone that expects their internet performance to be absolutely perfect all the time needs to take a good look at themselves, as regardless of ISP the can never be a guarantee of perfect performance.

Also all ISP's can only ever offer up to performance nothing more, maybe Korea with its Fibre to the door may offer near to that performance but here.

... however in VM's case they can impede that performance by supplying buggy hardware and not keeping on top of congestion issues; both of those are out of the customer's control so surely they have some cause to whinge.

We won't mention how many are waiting for Bridge mode to use decent networking kit :)

I really dont want to leave VM, truthfully, but the threat of leaving always seems to do the trick ;)

The only other alternative is 3mb adsl, as thats the max speed in my area, there is no infinity, only adsl and cable, so 50mb cable it is ;)

There is definitley a utilisation issue at the moment, it affecting everything from speed to ping

What specification is there that your ping is outside?

Want to swap?

I'm not convinced that threatening to leave them will make them spend thousands of quid upgrading your area if they aren't receiving any other complaints and certainly not if it's just temporary high load due to school holidays, bank holidays, etc. Maybe calling technical support or posting on the forum or engaging the Twitter team asking about these issues would be a plan?

VM do claim to be perfect for gaming and streaming tho. Granted they only say that on the 50mbit tier, but guess what, he is on that tier.

off peak I am sorted, on peak is the issue. Now maybe I am overly fussy about my own situation as after all 1 or so hour each day of dodgy latency isnt too bad, the reason I am complaining now is I know soon my area is getting uplifted speeds so I really shouldnt be seeing any issue whilst my area is supposedbly over provisioned at the moment.

Re: Why has my service gone poop since monday?

well my area will be 100meg enabled in september, and im not waiting until then for a network capacity upgrade, at the moment im not sure whether its network end, i will need someone who knows what they are talking about to let me know about this:

in the street cabinet, I think my cable is wired into the tap through a splitter, i.e. i am sharing my tap with someone else. Would this affect my connection at all?

by the way, i know this becuase the cabinet was open the other week. and i presume its mine in the splitter, as i only got my cable installed a couple of months ago, and i presume they ran out of taps and put a splitter on another one to get me connected, although im a bit nooby in this area and will need someone to confirm

Re: Why has my service gone poop since monday?

if you look at my first post, you can see that my connection has been fine today, must have been whatever happened at 2AM that re-started my connection 3 times, maybe work on the network side, either way, the connection has been solid speed and usual ping

A) it is Mrs
B) mods cannot ignore any posts/posters ~ we have to read them all (part of the job)

btw, have you considered that perhaps running all those speed tests is slowing your connection down? ;)
