Does anyone know what this device is they want you to use? Does it have camera/mic bulit in so they can see/hear your frustration as your SuperHub doesn't do what it's supposed to do :D

Re: Anyone had a 'Keeping Broadband Fast and Fair' email?
As I understand it, it's basically just a cut-down wireless router that they have programmed to do all sorts of tests when you're not using your connection.

Re: Anyone had a 'Keeping Broadband Fast and Fair' email?
I couldn't anyway as my monitor (modded cisco modem) is recording my BT traffic.
Our brand new 30Mb broadband hasn’t been tested by Ofcom and SamKnows yet. As usual from VM, incorrect as they "don't know!". Any SamKnows tester who was on either 20Mb or 50Mb service and upgraded/downgraded to 30Mb would still be running their equipment and SamKnows would detect the service change automatically. SamKnows can and will run specific tests for VM 30Mb service if VM care to pay for the same. Rather than making it look like a VM initiative they could've been a bit more open and truthful and perhaps sent a copy of this "SamKnows & Ofcom UK broadband performance testing Way back in 2008 SamKnows partnered with Ofcom to carry out a comprehensive study of broadband provider performance, a follow-up from our own study completed in August of that year. In both cases SamKnows defined and funded the technical solution with the objective of creating a data set which would enable consumers to have the best possible understanding of the broadband performance delivered by the UK's leading ISPs. We're quite frankly delighted to announce that we're embarking on another project for 2010 this time as part of a two-year study taking us through to April 2012 - a period during which we believe consumers can expect significant changes in broadband performance as faster next-generation services are launched. We're on the lookout for UK broadband consumers to join our community, if you're interested please click here and fill out our short registration form." http://www.samknows.com/broadband/ofcom_and_samknows |

@Carl: It only does tests when your not using your connection? Seems strange, does it not still monitor your connection when you're actually using it to get 'real' usage stats and performance?

Re: Anyone had a 'Keeping Broadband Fast and Fair' email?
Obviously Carl know what it does so I'm saying nothing!

Re: Anyone had a 'Keeping Broadband Fast and Fair' email?
Use an old web page by all means.
"SamKnows has been appointed by a number of ISPs, around the world, to provide our performance measurement solutions. One of these is Virgin Media, who, following an extensive six-month competitive review where Virgin tested the SamKnows Performance Monitoring solution against other competitor products. " After which they continued with funding the SamKnows/Ofcom tests as all other ISP's did. They no longer did nor do, their own testing via SamKnows. |

Fair enough. Sorry. I thought it was all part of the same web page. My mistake.
This is the bit I meant to take issue with. Quote:

They, as all ISP's who support them, get the results of the testing as do Ofcom. They do not have nor pay for dedicated results for any partcular tier of service. All they get is the same report as the other ISP's. |
Re: Anyone had a 'Keeping Broadband Fast and Fair' email?
It says not to bother if you are a "heavy downloader" which they say is "over 30Gb per month".
That's me out then.... they obviously don't want users who are being traffic shaped or whatever as it may screw their findings... and let the cat out of the bag. |
