So, Orange cutting costs by shutting down an overnight callcenter to outsource it, and doing everything they can to make sure their employees keep jobs if they want them (Alternate jobs within the company, relocate to manilla) as well as offering them a severance package, and letting them keep all options open....

Seems a bit of a non-story to me really, unless the actual story is 'Orange goes the extra mile to keep profits coming in and staff happy & employed' is the actual story...

Apparently Orange have apologised to the 40 staff who were wrongly told that they need to move to Manila to keep their jobs

I'm glad I'm not with Orange - Philippino callcentres are even more annoying than Indian ones. Amongst other things they have fake American accents and apparently in their culture everyone has a stupid nickname like 'baby' and 'princes' which they're allowed to use when talking to customers.

for what its worth I have brought shares in some companies (ok 2 companies) and returned any dividends I have been offered. I took the risk and my profit if it pays off is share growth, I think dividends are somewhat of a mickey take and wrongful use of turnover. I asked for the money to either be spent on jobs or given to charity instead.
