Re: goverment's enterprise zones
Canary Wharf is/was only a small part of the Docklands development.
When I worked down there in the mid 90's, there was lots of active development and businesses outside Canary Wharf (Limeharbour, etc), and as for now, the whole area is like a mini-city. |
Re: goverment's enterprise zones
Much the same experience on Merseyside, where the work done by the MDC has created an attractive zone for further commercial development. The ferry terminal, the Echo Arena, the Museum of Liverpool, the Leeds/Liverpool canal extension to name but a recent few - none of these were done by the MDC but arguably they would all have been impossible without the MDC's initial regeneration of the Wirral and Liverpool waterfronts.

Re: goverment's enterprise zones
Wish we could have one in this town..we are virtually a dormitory town where the local council allows so much new housing that we have a surplus of youngsters with no work. and no new business's are opening up and there are many closing or leaving the area.
We have MOD properties such as Deadelus being decommissioned and therefore whole swathes of land to be redeveloped but we don't need new housing as we have so many already. But I suspect that apart from London all the enterprise zones will be north of Watford.:( |

I was at Boots last week when the 2 clowns were there massaging each others overflowing egos, watching them was cringeworthy to say the least I had to leave before I was sick. The Company I Sub Contract to were of the same opinion that selected areas will only get the funds and the areas that need the funding will get nothing. |
