Re: Settling in period?
54Mb is wireless g. Are you sure wireless N is supported? Post back the make and model of your laptop.

Re: Settling in period?
Acer Aspire 5551 only bought late last year and from what I can google it says the n/g/b as I thought.
Maybe I have to select the faster wireless option on my laptop or do those changes on the Superhub as suggested? |

IIRC you need to go into your adapter properties and make sure your 802.11n Mode is ENABLED and that you are using WPA2-AES for your security measures. http://www.intel.com/support/wireles.../cs-025393.htm "802.11n Mode The 802.11n standard builds upon previous 802.11 standards by adding multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO). MIMO increases data throughput to improve the transfer rate. setting can be used to enable or disable supporting the high throughput mode (MIMO - 802.11n).
5100 or Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN. To achieve transfer rates greater than 54 Mbps on 802.11n connections, WPA2-AES security must be selected. No security (None) can be selected to enable network setup and troubleshooting. An administrator can enable or disable support for high throughput mode to reduce power-consumption or conflicts with other bands or compatibility issues." |
Re: Settling in period?
Hmm 99% sure it says Broadcom which I am guessing is different to what you have posted above but interesting tha the security level could be a reason why.
Thanks very much for the pointers though. All this help has been great so far. |

Out of the box BOTH adapters were ENABLED. Wireless performance and Network throughput was woefully compromised until I discovered and sorted this by disabling the Broadcom adapter. Network throughput was further enhanced by putting Both PC's link speed/duplex settings onto auto-discover |
Re: Settling in period?
Both of my adapters were Broadcom but disabled the wired adaptor also just incase.
However I changed the password security to WPA2-Personal AES and this is what I have now got on my laptop wirelessly. https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...011/03/107.png Also see in Status that it says 130Mb. Don't know where the auto-discover thing is but can't see it improving my connection all that much better than it is already. Thanks for all your helps guys |
Re: Settling in period?
mine was a little hit and miss at first but now I get (I pay for 30mb)
