Wales were not a walkover tonight...

Re: Six Nations

Thankfully, there are very few walkover results in the 6 nations these days. That's very important if the northern hemisphere teams are going to hope to really compete with their southern hemisphere rivals.

As for who's favourite to win the title well France would be my bet but I wouldn't rule out any of the teams except Scotland and Italy.

I wonder what odds i can get for Italy finishing above Wales, worth a punt imo :)

Last few times I've seen them play they've competed pretty well. It'd be good for all the 6N teams if the likes of Italy could progress that bit further and start taking regular scalps.

'common Russ - your team, first choice, has injuries - yes?
The fight will carry on another day yes? :)
And it is just sport.
Don't put us Englungers down :) or - I might be forced to sing in harmony again :D
There's a lot of matches to go yet.

Re: Six Nations

There's a lot of pressure on Gatland especially with the World Cup coming up so we'd expect to beat a team like England through sheer hard work and the right tactics, not the half-hearted flatulent effort from last night. His attempts at pre-match mind games were childish and ineffective. We had injuries yes but Gatland can't hide behind that..

Can we not be hoping Italy play too well just yet please.

Oof. Italy are getting it tight today. 31-6 after 37 minutes and England looking like they could double that without breaking sweat.

Re: Six Nations

Yes a very professional and controlled demolition job I'd say. Italy must have been a tad deflated from last week, having snatched defeat from the jaws of victory against Ireland, but that takes little away from very, very, good and highly entertaining England performance. Ashton has a natural instinct when it comes to being in exactly the right place at the right time but so many of his team mates stepped up to the mark today and that made life for him a lot easier than it might otherwise have been. Two wins out of two and 10 tries in the process isn't at all bad. :) Harder games to come however...

I hate matches like that.
After not many minutes in it's no 'Might we win?' but' How much will we win by...?'
Takes the oomph out of it completely.
But I still want to see a bit of skill from the Italians.

:(

Another nice win for England! A good try, two very near misses and some excellent defence. The only downside was some very poor penalties given away for no good reason. Anyway, I'll settle for that win against a very determined French side and a tally of 3 out of 3 at this stage of the championship.

Creating opportunities is what we haven't been doing for quite and now we're doing that and taking them - 11 great tries in 3 Six Nations games is no mean feat. In recent years we've been suffering very badly with ill disciplne and sin binnings - there was still some of that evident today and we really need to get to grips with the laws.

Re: Six Nations

Not seen all the match yet but it looks to have been one of those scrappy games it'd have been easy for England to lose. If they're going to progress to bigger and better things England need to win matches like this and carve out results when everything isn't going to plan. They seem to be able to do this but next week's game against Ireland away will be a very tough test of character. It could go either way but I wouldn't rule out nerves getting the better of England and a fairly comfortable Ireland victory. They'll rightly be hurting after being on the wrong end of a truly shocking decision against the Welsh and will also want to deny England the grand slam. As for England, well they're doing the right things at last but really ought to be thinking further ahead to the RWC at which I reckon the southern hemisphere sides are going to be the ones to watch.
