Re: Can not connect "Verifying Internet connection" - I have tried everything!

I had some contact direct from Virgin via email which was a welcome surprise. In fact I got signed up to the 'Virgin Media Digital Home Support' where they shadow your pc and actually fix stuff there and then. So now after two attempts they have fixed the problem both times but alas as soon as I go to another WiFi network and then come back to my Virgin Wifi the problem still persists. I simply can not reconnect onto Virgin.

I tried using the 'Home Support' service today and it is 'out of order' until 9am Monday, so no help there!

I am on the ethernet connection right now.

It seems it is a problem with the Virgin Wifi all in one modem and router. Ho hum... still trying to get all this sorted. Weirdly though it all still works perfectly going to and from different WiFi networks with the other identical laptop.

a) Set your IP settings manually to see if it's the wireless that's the problem or your DHCP.

b) Try it in safe mode with networking to see if software on your machine is the problem

LOL! Here we go again!

I bet my money on this:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928233

When this works, you will say sorry to the Virgin staff here won't you! lol!

Sounds like a wireless security authentication problem. Try going in to router, removing wireless security. Then try connecting laptop that does not connect. Go back in to router settings and put security back on. Try reconnecting with laptop that would not connect, and hopefully everything will be fine.
