Re: Asus Rampage III Extreme Warning

I have got my cpu watercooled.

I use to have my graphic's card watercooled untill I swapped to a GTX 480, which I will be getting watercooled.

I am now running my original Rampage II Extreme mobo with the following:

Core I7 920 @ 4.0ghz prime stable 12 hour's max core temp's 60/60/58/56
Asus Rampage II Extreme Air cooled
MSI GTX 480 @ Stock Speed's Air Cooled
6gb G-Skill 2000MHZ Ram @ 1603MHZ

I am not going to watercool the motherboard because of the fact that I don't need to, because I have a fan blowing directly in to the case because of the graphics card so the fan helps to cool that, until I watercool it at which point I will probably watercool the mobo, as it will only cost a extra £100 for the block's and radiator.

I swapped to the Rampage III Extreme with a Core I7 930 and the 6gb of G-Skill 2000mhz ram, but there was a compat issue apparently according to Aria but I have now had 3 Rampage III Extreme mobo's all with the same problem.

I started this thread so that anyone thinking of buying this board would think otherwise, not to have people question what I do with my pc and all the rest of it no offence intended but if I needed advice or wanted, to have people pick apart what I was saying or am running in my pc then I would have said so.

As I say sorry if I offend anyone by that but I posted this thread to help people not to have people jump down my throat about my system yes, I like to spend money on it and overclock it and get as much out of it as I can when you spend the money I do on a pc you want, the best you can get and if that means that you have to play around with it more than usual so be it.

If you want to black or red rep go ahead or ban me I don't care I was only trying to help people not one person has said thanks for me at least posting about this issue, all that people want to do is moan and slag me off (right word not to sure), about my spending habit's and my pc well fine I will not bother anymore so go ahead and ban or red/black rep all you want not bothered anymore I just won't post any help anymore.

Well Damien you waste hundreds of pounds on hardware..... Fact

Your systems fall over more often than a toddler taking its first steps.. exaggerated but still Fact

What I am meant to think about your skills? you refuse point blank to listen to me and I am experienced. The fact nothing you have seems to last very long makes me wonder about your experience

You spend your money how you want of course it has nothing to do with me but dont expect me not to laugh at the rediculas amount you spend over and over again and barely get any benefit. Mind your family must love it as they get your rejects

There I have spoken my mind seeing as you thought I was slagging you off before I may as well hadn't I...

Can I ask what do you use your PC for Damien, primarily . Got to be used for some hardcore rendering or something like that (hopefully).

Zing stop the willy waving it does not suit you. ;)

im not willy waving I am saying it how it is.

You know as well as I do how much he has spent on that machine and its a waste. All he does is play games all these motherboards he keeps changing just to get a higher overclock which will hardly help his gaming anyway.

He has even posted that he is using a room fan? to cool the system thats something I have not had to do since Socket A days.

I am experienced and I am skilled thats not willy waving is it? neither is me saying my system just works cuz it does at any point I want I can do what I want with it I do not have to buy new motherboards or rebuilds or reformats just to get the system working again.

Still I spose at least while he is still at home he may as well spend his money as when he goes into the real world and has a family of his own he wont be able to anymore

Re: Asus Rampage III Extreme Warning

My pc is used for gaming and video work, but mainly gaming.

I spend money on it when I want to upgrade it and I am currently saving for the core i7 980x CPU, it may not be used fully yet but it will be there till it is.

The reason nothing last's long is not due to failure, it is down to wanting to upgrade which I do so when I think it is worth it for the money.

As I don't want to wait 30 mins or so for a video to convert or have to play a game with medium or low detail settings, I see it as worth tweaking till I get it how I want it and more fool me for trying.

I have only asked for advice recently about the graphics card, but after seeing issues with ati cards when playing games I chose nvidia yes more money but no issues in games unlike ati.

you have just highlighted the error in your mindset there

that is totally the wrong way to do it. I can garrentee by the time the six core are even nearly utilised something better and faster will be available. Computer hardware progresses at a tremendous speed

So you save £750 to blow on a cpu then you find in 2011 Intel release the X68 chipset ( its on the roadmap) you have to buy that and then what? Bill smiles as he gets a nice £750 cpu while you "upgrade" again

You had a perfectly good i7 machine pretty close to when they were released didnt you? does Bill have that now? how many other builds you done around the i7 for yourself ?
