Just an update, VM technician came this morning who knew all about the problem before he arrived. There is a lot of people in the area with the same problem, 50Mb users worst affected apparently. It's caused by some work that took place last Friday (something to do with load balancing) and is affecting anyone who connects through a particular hub in Marske. You can check this by doing a tracert, the first external hop will be "cpc1-mars3.[full link removed].cable.virginmedia.com" - This is the affected hub.

The issue has been escalated up to the senior network technicians who are looking at the problem now. If you wish to get an update on it give VM a call and quote Remedy number 1329660.

So for now, continue to use the proxy and hopefully it will be resolved shortly.

Thanks to Hyte1 for the update, much appreciated. At least we have a reference to quote when we call VM, which I will do regularly. Cannot believe it has taken over a week for VM to admit there is an issue at their end.

Thanks Hyte, can't believe it's take this long for Virgin to realize & admit fault but at least they're on to it (yes that is the first hop for me so fingers crossed...)

Update- called VM again for up update on the above remedy number and it's supposed to be fixed by this evening. We will see, fingers crossed - its a real pain!

think it might be working now removed proxy server from settings and i can get on the sites i could not before...this been 1 of them....lets just hope they leave well alone this time......;)

Yep, your right its fixed for me too, removed proxy and tried halifax website (never been able to access that before without proxy) and its fine. Not tried xbox just yet but assume thats fixed too.

Dont know if its just me but even though web is working again websites seem slow to load....:o:

seems fine so far here, and able to access my website cpanel for the first time in over a week!
