I use mainly TESCO or ALDI as they are both close to where I pick the other half up from work and occasionally we use Somerfield/COOP, we go rarely to NETTO and we get our frozen food from either Iceland or Farmfoods.

No NETTO are supermarkets similar in size to any Somerfield, ALDI or LIDL, they are not a convenience store or a metro sized shop,

Usually a bit bigger than the average Londis. Most of the Netto supermarkets I have come across are on quite large plots with dedicated parking areas rather that just being corner shops.

seems a strange buy then, asda's gap is they got no presence outside of shopping centres.

I think they are aiming for the small local supermarket scene which are usually located on housing estates rather than on the outskirts of many towns and will bring the ASDA brand to many more people who shop by foot or bus rather than by car.

that's probably true ,all the Netto's up here are in the inner cities and towns whearas the Asdas' are in out of town malls like the metro center ,so if Asda do buy Netto then it will give them a much bigger market and will directly compete with morrisons ,also quite big up here

Similar over here but we have only a few Morrisons which is surprising considering their head office is only 30 miles away.

Store locator

Re: Asda buys Netto for £778m

nearest is coalville a small town outside of the city.

so yep none in leicester, only leicestershire.

so in my city case asda will remain out of city only.

also appear to have no inner city presence in both derby and nottingham but in half a dozen outlying towns.

It's a tossup between Southampton and Havant for me then.20 miles apart from each other.

I think the Co-Op are onto a good thing with the smaller stores myself.I note they have also gotten a new one on the latest new housing estate here and they have combined as a post office as well.
