I think it'll be a positive move like years ago when people like Anelka and Overmars were sold and the cash invested in the team rather than later years when the Henry, Hleb and Viera cash went on the stadium.

This has to stop, it's no wonder that Fergie says he will not be adding to the squad......

MANCHESTER UNITED fans reacted furiously as the club could face £75million extra debt.
Malcolm Glazer and his family, who own the club, were accused of wasting tens of millions of pounds as supporters learned the club face crippling interest rate rises on their £720m debt in August.

Duncan Drasdo, head of the Manchester United Supporters' Trust, said: "That is the problem with the Glazers.

"They have wasted every single penny supporters have paid for tickets over the entire five years of their ownership. Every single penny of OUR money which we paid to OUR club."

The interest rate on United's latest £220m loan will go up from 14.25 per cent to 16.25 per cent in August.

But Dick Scudamore says they have been good for United, wonder how much longer Fergie will put up with it for? Loyalty to your employers is fine and good but these people are just parasites.

We knew earlier on the season that the debt was so high that the £80 million sale of Ronaldo was the only thing that meant United made a profit last year, that was despite the fact they reached the Champions League final and won the league. The fact that the interest has gone up is even stupider.

Ferguson cannot add to his squad, to do so would simply mean another wage bill and another large expenditure United cannot afford. Unless he sales a player that is.

I'd imagine when Barcelona wave £80 million under the noses of Man U for Rooney they'll have no option but to take it. :(

Thats wrong in two ways. One, United wont be selling Rooney and two Barca are buying Villa ;)

Be sensible to do so. They could get a great striker for £30 million, a great keeper, and a great defender. Rooney is not £80 million worth of a player.

You have to remember the large chunk of money the Glazers take from the club for themselves that takes away from the yearly profit, if you take that away and the sale of Ronaldo the club did make a profit last year.

Ferguson has added to the squad already, two players infact ;)

I think 30 quid is all they'll have left after paying off the interest on the debt they have been landed with. ;)

I think the Glazers are City fans bringing the club down from the inside. :erm: It's almost funny how bad it's getting at United and how they continue to make the situation worse, despite massive bids for the club!

I thought the Glazers restructured their debt dramatically bringing down the interest rate. Does the article reflect that?

Re: Close Season Football Thread

It doesn't mention the restructuring of the of the debt, probably because it makes little difference in real terms....

Quote:

Since the Glazers took over they have wasted £437m in fees and interest - more than the TOTAL ticket revenue (£398m) for the full 5 year period of their ownership.

So every single penny we have paid for tickets over the last 5 years has been wasted.
Every single penny we've spent on our tickets over their entire 5 year ownership - wasted

Or put it another way every one of us could have:
attended every match free of charge for the last 5 years .....
on top of that the club could have given every Season Ticket holder £700 in cash each .....
and the club would still have been no worse off!

And this doesn't even include the £700m of debt they've dumped on the club either.
