I don't think anyone really believes this is the first time this has happened at this station. Stand by for more suspects to claim the same treatment.

He who lives by the camera, dies by the camera.
Seems to be only the police that don't realise they're being filmed 24/7, like the rest of us are.

This doesn't do much to dispel the lingering perception of the archetypal thugs in uniform, as portrayed in countless comedy sketches et al, of yore.
"Oh dear sarge! He appears to have fallen down the stairs!"

Good to see that they're not completely beyond the law yet, when they slip up and get caught that is.

Uh huh. I suppose you realise that inside police custody suites are *very* extensively covered by CCTV cameras. They also have to contend with every half-wit with a camera phone filming them whilst screaming about Police brutality and itching to edit the footage and pop it on youtube.

Well it's not like they are given far harsher sentences than the general public when convicted plus losing their jobs etc.

Hang on a sec...

Sounds as if they were carrying out part of the BNP's policy on Crime & Justice

- End the liberal fixation with the “rights” of criminals and replace it with concern for the rights of victims – and the right of innocent people not to become victims;

- Re-introduce corporal punishment for petty criminals and vandals;

:shocked:

The likes of this guy with a previous conviction for a similar offence gives the decent guys in your job a bad name and they need to be rooted out.;)

Hmmm, if they allow the Police to hand it out on the spot they might get my vote after all :D

Not to mention many apparently genuine examples of police malpractice.

It's an unenviable job, trying to keep order among the sub-human drunks that plague our cities, but then representing 'the law' is a big responsibility.
If you can't stay within it, you shouldn't be wearing the uniform.

The custodial sentences do seem unnecessary.
Probably more appeasement and PR than serving any practical purpose.

Aah yes, let's give them carte blanche to beat the crap out of suspects whenever they want, at least we know where your sympathies lay.
