Gawd that brings back memories.. When we emigrated to SA my mother's younger sister a month later sent a letter (she was only young herself) and she believed that the whole family would turn into dark skinned "bantu" (as the term was then in the mid '70's)

South Africa is a beautiful country with a fantastic and amazingly mixed group of people it'd be a shame for an action like this to destroy some of the good work done since the elections in the early 90's..

My grandparents were convinced we were in danger of losing our lives when my parents wrote to them and mentioned we were living in "Bloodriver Avenue" (70's as well) :D

Kymmy - when my son came back last year after working on a SA horse ranch/hikers' stop in Drakkensberg for six weeks, he was very, very brown (and that was in their winter).

I work one month or so in Pretoria and one month or so in Stellenbosch....

Not much has changed the last 10 years..

Do you cook or do you have somebody to do it?
Do you clean your house or do you have somebody to do it?
Do you drive or are you driven?
Do you have an electric fence around the house?
Do you use public transport? of course not (that will be fun during the world cup ;) )

I could go on....

This tanned idiot's death will not make any difference.

Mmmmm, not picking on your post above or beyond any of the others for any reason other than it being the last one, i can't see the the relevance of your questions re cooking / driving etc, as for the tanned idiot :dozey:

E.T was the leader, spokesperson and figurehead of a very large 'following' the hardcore members, and that is 99.9% of the AWB were / are fanatical, if you think that this 'idiots' death will not make a difference, think again, I don't know how it will be measured in the count of bodies as not all bodies are found, but there will be revenge killings for this, of that I'm certain.

An ignominious end for a very odious man, as mentioned above nobody deserves this, having said that ET would have met out this sort of punishment to the non-whites in a heartbeat.
Of course this is exactly why this crime should be investigated openly and without prejudice, the last thing South Africa needs is for this hateful man to be held up as some sort of martyr.

The AWB have said that revenge will be taken, the extent of this will be decided when they convene on May 1st, the worrying part of this is that they are planning revenge and not 'just' going out and shooting indiscriminately, although I'm sure that that may already have happened, I'm sure that whatever they do plan will be big, involve death to many black South Africans and will set about the AWB's fight for a white only self governing state again.

Given the way he seems to have treated his workers, it's hardly surprising that he met the end that he did.

As for revenge killings by the AWB, it's almost a certainty. One can only wonder if they are capable of any organised retaliation though, given their last encounter with the 'blecks', in Bophuthatswana, that left three AWB dead and the organisation reduced to a laughing stock.

I suppose it had to come one day that he would meet a violent death, one way or the other. They are more than capable of organising some sort of revenge, as for their last encounter, it wasn't the black population of Mmbatho that sent them packing but the S.A army, before the army moved in the AWB had Mmabatho locked down with roadblocks set up and anyone that was a) Black b) unlucky enough to be seen c) too slow to move, was shot, pure and simple.
