Well even if you beat the Christians I think us heathens will want our Midwinter feast.

So unless you want beating to death with a turkey leg I'd desist if I were you.

I don't think this will happen. In my experience, those that do celebrate christmas, do. Those that don't celebrate christmas use it as an excuse to take a day off, give each other presents, watch TV and maybe get drunk with friends/family.

More disturbing is the BBC's decision that Thought For The Day will only have thoughts from religious people. I thought the BBC was supposed to be impartial and fair. How can it be either when it does this?

So, in summary, someone has reported that some group think that something might possibly happen if someone else does something that she has never said.

Yes but don't forget it's a chance to moan about how Muslims are taking over.

My criticisms of catholicism have been well-documented here in the past. This non-story is just another attempt at a "winterval" style scandal.

I saw it straight away but figured you'd prefer a more grown up response - apologies if I misjudged you.

Didn't we have a revolution a few centuries ago so that we didn't have to follow what the Catholic Church said? I know the concept of human rights is alien to His Holiness and the boys, but Harman couldn't ban Christmas even if she wanted to because it would breach the Human Rights Act in a number of places (freedom of assembly, right to private life, freedom of speech, freedom of religion I reckon).

Remember, if you see a story in your newspaper sayings SO AND SO BANS CHRISTMAS SHOCK HORROR it's time to switch papers. They're *always* made up, including the Dundee one this year.

Five Chinese Crackers: These 'they've banned Christmas' stories start earlier every year!
