Re: Opera 10 released

I had to give up on Opera due to a few little annoying problems.

I'm now back on Firefox and have installed the following add ons to make it look and feel far more responsive.

SmoothWheel for super smooth scrolling.

Fasterfox for improved speed.

Download Statusbar for improved download window.

Socool which is a theme i like.

I had tried to change to Google Chrome but only lasted a few days as i hate the tabs on top.

Opera is looking to be a very nice browser but it's a shame pages aren't displayed correctly like in other browsers.

^ Considering it passes the acid tests and has one of the higher standards support (along with webkit based browsers) I find it hard to believe it's Opera at fault. Of the few occasions I've seen a page render "wrong" it's down to the page being coded for IE.

I'm back on 9.27 as it allows me to search the cache for files downloaded by suffix...

I agree Opera uses the standards better than anyone but that doesn't help if the page isn't displayed how the site owner intended it to be. I can't use Youtube as it always comes up garbled and i have an annoyance where i want a popup window on another site to popup outside of the main Opera browser window like all the other browsers, and i can't seem to do that easily.

It's a shame really as i really like the look of Opera.

Drag the tab to the window title bar (or off the window) and it'll create a new window for that tab.

As for YouTube, never had a problem with it.

I tried that and it just opens another full screen browser window which isn't really what i want. Plus when i hover over things on it it's meant to display a label and it won't in Opera so for that reason it's back to another browser for me, although i'm really annoyed about not being ready to use Opera.

Is anyone else having problems using Digitalspy with this? The site loads but it won't let me click any links. It's only doing it on that site.

Ah, well I've using 10.00. So that might explain why it's working fine for you.

Hmm, it was doing it last week but my laptop broke and I had to send it off. They replaced the HDD, so I had to re-install. God knows what the problem is then...
