Re: Remote Access Help

RTM ;)

The manual will explain how to alter the port..but it should be under REMOTE MANAGEMENT if it's like any other router..

Page English:80 deals with remote management

Errr, put it this way I can access your remote management on port 8080, so it probably is your NAT stopping you from doing so...most people have problems accessing the router on the WAN IP from an internal IP on the same WAN.

But yes your remote management is working and I would suggest you change the port to a non-standard number ;)

Thread moved to NETWORKING

See this is puzzling as he has already said he can't access from an external network such as his work network. I am assuming he typed his correct WAN address followed by the port.

Obviously you can see his IP address and can therefore test a number of different combinations, perhaps PM'ing him the URL you tried so he can try from work might help?

All I did was http://xx.xx.xx.xx:8080/ nothing more, nothing less..

I suppose it could be that some browsers (especially IE) require the http:// when using a port number and if you don't enter the http:// it'll timeout..Also perhaps his works netowrk has a proxy running that redirects 8080 or blocks it all together as it's a common proxy port

Re: Remote Access Help

I tried to ping the address with and without ports from my work, all packets were lost

Thank you ALL for your valued input to my problem, \i will try the port number tomorrow and post back any valid feedback.

Reading the posts again - 'http://' first then the IP Address!

it worked!!!!!!!!!

I was just entering the IP and explorer was auto adding the http:// which didn't work.

I'm elated!!

Thank you very much - I'm now going to get a good nights sleep.
