Yes it seems like we are being penalised for being early adopters of the TV Drive as it was then. I am probably going to take the hit and pay the get out fee and the 50mg install.

It's not about being early. Even if you were to sign up to the XL Plus or VIP now you would end up in the same situation

It is about paying less for the V+ install upfront

I don't believe it is the case for VIP now, as I see now on the V+ page it says V+setup fee is currently free on VIP.

Still less than the £49 V+ you would have to pay on another deal though isn't it?

Remember officially the V+ install fee is £150

The install fee for VIP is £30

The only difference between the XL Plus and the VIP is the Sports and Movies. That is it - all the rest is the same

I expect that, if we went from XL Plus to VIP (not that we want to) we may not have to pay the V+ setup as on VIP it is currently free. However, I expect that would still leave us in the same pricing structure as we are now, if we ever wanted to move to a different pricing structure on the V+ we would then have to pay the "get-out" fee. Am I correct?

Sort of retro-charging us for the fact we never paid it in the beginning, and the fact it's free on VIP currently is irrelevant as that's a new deal.

No you don't get it.

The only reason they say the V+ is free with VIP is because it is included in the price quoted. They would say the same if they advertised the XL Plus. On both deals it still shows up as £10 on the bill

For both the XL Plus and VIP you pay the same standard install fee of £30 for the V+ - which at the moment if you order online Virgin are crediting

As I said the ONLY difference between the XL Plus and VIP is the Sport and Movies - the rest is EXACTLY THE SAME.

So even if you signed up to the VIP deal today and then downgraded in a year - based on the current pricing structure you would still have to pay the conversion fee.

So if I wanted to change to VIP (now the football season has started) will it cost me anything other than the additional fee a month ?

If you are no the XL Plus no - but it WILL start a new 12 months and officially you wouldn't be able to downgrade back to the XL Plus again.

Youlw could add Sports on the XL Plus for £87.50 or Sports and Movies for £94.50 - both would allow you to take them off once the season ended

I'm still in two minds about what to do! Warren, where are you with your decision? I still think going to Triple XL50 with an extra stb will be the better choice as that is £3pm cheaper due to the fact of no TI and TM which is an integrated part of XL Plus which I don't need. And it's the V+ fee out of the way of course.

Probably just going to go VIP to be honest, been umming and ahhing about it for a while, and the wife likes the films.
