For my friends at Virgin all 2mb customer that register will be upgrade to 10Mb for free but if you pay a few extra quid you get 10Mb and you get free pc guard and the free service what will replace broadband extra.

The 2Mb service will change to broadband size S

Wow  worth every penny :dozey: :o:

Are the STM limits the same for the users paying less for their 'up to 10Mb' service??

Iam not sure how this relates to current 10mb bb users who are having the rug pulled out from under them?

No they won't be

BB M 10Mbit will have different STM than BB L 10Mbit.

That and PC Guard total will explain the price difference

Can I downgrade to the cheaper price? I'm not fussy about the STM or PC Guard which I don't use

If everyone is getting upgraded and we already got told 10Mbs might be going DOCSIS 3 doesn't that mean everybody will be on DOCSIS 3 in the not so distant future? In which case that's quite impressive.

Re: Virgin Media Boosts Millions of Broadband Connections

Apparently its only BB XL (20Mbit) that is going onto DOCSIS 2/3 at the moment

BB M/L will staying on DOCSIS 1

No. There no bundles which include BB M anymore.

They already upgrade me from 2Mb to 10Mb for the same monthly payment of just £10 a month. Just for broadband only. I am happy with my 10Mb here:

Which makes STM look silly, as if the network can't cope with people on 2Mb, then how is it going to cope with all the people going to 10Mb with a minimum STM affected speed of 2.5Mb.

Apparently most folk on 2MB are supposedly only emailing and browsing so they aren't supposed to be much worried or bothered by the STM.;)

Re: Virgin Media Boosts Millions of Broadband Connections

I didn't meant at present BenMcr. There was a comment at one the official conferences or results last year hinting that 10Mbs would go to DOCSIS 2 or 3 in 2009 (after the planned 20Mbs).

Surely STM will be fine. When all is done they'll have roughly the same number of customers on 6 streams as were previously on 2 and the heavy customers will be on the 4 streams on DOCSIS 2/3, everybody else on those original 2 streams.
