Sounds like your box has a fault. Give Virgin a call.

You might want to read a previous post of mine! - I was getting very angry also - but the box I have now (my 3rd one) seems ok

My TV has this effect on my box - proven as it goes away when I turn it off (my TV) without fail.

mine too has this prob of being slow
but thru the day its fine perfect even but as soon as 11pm comes everything slows down the remote takes ages to turn over somtimes upto a min once i was watching itv1 ads came on so i went to turn it over to bbc1 to watch j ross then turn back once ads had finished but nothing happen for nearly 4 mins then when it turn over i went thru all the buttons i pressed to figure out wot had happened.
every night is the same it slows down.

My slow response started a week ago after I reset the box to cure a 'smart card invalid' error message. Tried lots more re-boots amd even unplugging for an hour with no effect. Then yesterday back came the 'smart card invalid' message. I reset the box - and my remote has now gone back to it's normal response rate. ie not exactly blisteringly fast, but bearable. I think there must have been a dodgy update.

There hasn't been an update, dodgy or otherwise. I'm sure your box is faulty. The smart card error message helps confirm this.

Leave it for now as it seems to have settled down, but ring the Faults team at VM if it plays up again.
