set yourself up with esata if your board does not have it you can get a internal sata to esata backplate for a couple of quid. I use a simple esata dock cost me 20 quid then you use any sata drive you want. Do not buy USB

Does the enclosure have a fan in it ?

No fan - the enclosure is metal (aluminium?) to aid cooling.
It includes an eSata backplate and both internal and external sata cables.
