Or why not just buy a new laptop, new house and new electrical installation, or even better - buy candles and go live in a cave... funny people, do some physics reading before you post such rubbish statements. ;)

Depending on the actual laptop it can be relatively easy to replace the DC Jack completely or incredibly difficult.
I just did an Acer Aspire for someone recently and the Jack was not even attached to the Motherboard but connected to wires which then ran to the board.That was a piece of cake that one.

Laptop chargers are not dangerous, unfortunately its unquallified members of the public trying to repair items that are dangerous.

That may be quite true but it`s also quite funny considering how many of the "qualified experts" out there are complete cowboys themselves.Besides,i`m sure you know much it costs to have a DC Jack replaced by the "experts".Some people just dont want to spend more than their laptop is actually worth to try get it fixed.
