Thanks for the person who sent me the PM.
I have worked through it alone over the past four hours and am about to...plug the power supply into the graphics card. I have also been to work though haha

Thanks for all the help :D

BIOS!

So when i first turned the new build on it went to BIOS. Then i turned it off as i didn't have a OS at hand. Now when i turn the new build on, it doesn't go to BIOS. Any ideas what i should do?

It beeps and goes throgh 2 screens really quickly 9one was the mobo screen i think) then it says "Reboot and insert proper boot device..."

Should i take the battery out on the mobo for half an hour?

Re: Help With PC Build

In your manual it will have an instruction to access the bios..........

You have got an OS ready haven't you? on cd? and you have a cd player in the pc?

access the bios and have it boot from the OS cd

OK i can't do access the BIOS.
When the PC goes on it jumps to screens then goes black and white writing coems up with "Reboot and insert proper boot device..." Then nothing happens.

Yes i have an OS ready, its on CD ad my new build has a CD Drive. But i can't get into BIOS.

Re: Help With PC Build

what key do you have to use to access the bios? quite often its F8

terryw 24-09-2008 23:48

Re: Help With PC Build

I pressed F8, a small screen came on and asked where to boot from. I selected the CD/DVD drive. It went back to the "Reboot and insert proper boot device..." and then it restarted... :S

Re: Help With PC Build

Try f2 to access the bios not the boot menu ( my balls(eye) are green not crystal:))

Re: Help With PC Build

bios is very rarely f8(in fact I do not think I have seen it F8 ever) it is more likely the del key or the f2 key. F8 is boot select.

put the OS in the drive and boot the pc. As you have no OS installed it should start from the media automatically
I take it the OS you intend to use is a legit copy? if not it may not be a bootable image

sometimes it's 'Del' key as you start the system. You need to get into the BIOS setup screens.

Once you get into that you can set the boot order and also make sure the system is seeing a suitable system disk to install the operating system.

now I think is the time to go over everything. Check all your cables connections and ensure they are all in place correctly. You say it just switched off? can you list all the componants . Are they all new?

Re: Help With PC Build

Everything is new. All my stuff is on the first page.
I got onto BIOS by holding down Delete.
But then when in BIOS what do i do?

Edit:all wires are connected
