So Homeplug type devices actually give off a significant amount of radio waves?

And as they're not encrypted means that a snopper can have fun with all your data ;)

That's the problem with transmitting data over a media that actually isn't really designed for it...at least with ADSL the wire is correctly terminated both ends becoming a balanced feeder so very little radiated where as mains you're plugging something in like an electric blanket into an already unbalanced spur so your just increasing the antenna size ;)
