It is inappropriate behaviour for a teacher.That is it in a nutshell.:shrug:

If he had been in any other profession a lesser punishment would have been fine.

Surely you expect there to be higher standards for teachers? :confused: :shrug:

I agree, in the UK today so many mountains are made out of mole hills (well in his case a hillock judging by the size of his girth) but never the less no harm was done, no one was injured although a few nightmares may have been had.

It is sad that we as a nation are being repressed by bureaucracy for small misdemeanour's.
Hell were being repressed full stop by this government.
I hear there is going to be a green tax on farting due to its composition and adding to global warming.

The guy was interviewed and the subject of a phone in on Radio 5 last night. He seemed very sincere and admitted that with hindsight he shouldn't have done it. I was surprised by the relatively small number of people who thought the disciplinary action was fair. A number of experienced teachers rang in and IIRC only one felt the matter had been handled properly. Although the guy is a supply teacher and has only lost this contract as it were, I can't help thinking that job offers won't be flooding in after this, which is probably a pity for all concerned.

I'm not a teacher(my mum is though), but what I do know is that to be a teacher to have to maintain a certain proffesional appearance/detatchment infront of you pupils.

I also know that there's a certain kind of kid who will do anything to destroy a teacher/get under their skin once they get an angle/device to do so. This chaps actions could provide such an avenue for any kids of this disposition.

His teaching career may be over(which some of you regard as overkill), but maybe, just maybe he actualy can't take the pressure of bieng a teacher of today's kids. Perhaps what has happened to him may be for the best. Give him chance to look at other careers.

Well apparently his action was intended to and did defuse a potentially aggressive situation with a troublemaker. He's had 25 years teaching experience with no similar problems apparently so not much evidence of a failure to cope. Sadly, I doubt he was fully aware of the power of YouTube though.

In which case, coupled with the amount of teaching experience he has, he should be familar with, shall we say more "conventional" conflict resolution/diffusion techniques.

BTW, sorry for my apalling spelling/grammar in my previous post, i'd not long since woken up.
