Well the sods have done it again, even though my account was in credit for £11.81 for the phone and £25.00 for the broadband, they have taken £25 by direct debit today, and i have gone overdrawn again.

well i pay direct debit froma saver account,
no overdraft at all and if theres no money in it then payment gets rejected

only problem for me is i got to ring them again to set up direct debit but better than £25 overdraft charge

That wouldn't work as all banks charge between £17.50 and £30 for a failed direct debit payment ;)

Well you do realise that Virgin also charge £10 if a D/D fails?

damn,
is that what they list as late payment charge?
was wondering what that was for

Nope they still charge a late fee.

If for any reason a D/D bounces due to no funds a Failed D/D fee is charged. (If however the D/D is cancelled, so Virgin can't take the money, they don't charge the Failed D/D fee)

If then a customer doesnt pay before next bill is printed (which is usually around 1 1/2 - 2 weeks after the d/d date), they get charged a late fee

Obviously this only happens if people don't bother to talk to Virgin until after the D/D has bounced and/or they've paid late
