Actually very logical.

At that age, it's a choice between food and heating - and the food aint that great. A ready meal from M&S being a monthly treat. Ten years for armed robbery. Free food and heat in prison - can see out your days in comfort. Or, if you managed to escape with a few grand and are never caught, free food and heat - can see out your days in comfort.

Win, win

so why did she run when the alarms went off?

Call me cynical, and I'm sure recent advances in joint replacements can do wonders for mobility, but I doubt she's up there with the likes of Owens. Probably figured that someone would catch up with her. Life huh - had she be laden down with tens-of-thousands, she would no doubt have been caught.

Old people are not as helpless as they first appear - they might not be able to hear a word you say to them when you sit next to them on the sofa, but they can hear the 'ching' of a tea cup on a saucer from a good mile away and quickly request a nice brew... with a biscuit...

You need to give them more credit! :)

Personally I would rather these old folk were out doing armed robberies than on the roads - They are a nightmare!
