I think VM will wait to be honest no point scrapping old boxes if they work just yet.

Mine still going even if it has to just get a reset every few days to refresh its memory as it cant put the new guide info in.

The problem for VM is not necesary financial stand point. DVB-C2 is just around the corner and maybe its just better to wait then update to boxes which could be complaint to DVB-c2.

Afterall they are putting Docsis 3.0 in so they are updating the networks.

We just have to be patient.

I can see us getting box upgrades.

Does anybody know if V+ is DVB-C2 compliant.

Yea, I guess thats a posibility.

I did hear about DVB-C2 being rolled out this summer.

For those of you unaware what DVB-C2 does, heres a basic synopsis:

DVB-C2 will provide higher transmission efficiency while remaining fully interoperable with other DVB-systems. (Im assuming that means the V+ will be fine.)

The 4th Q of 2007 Results are expected around the 28th Feb. and that will have more details on the DOCSIS 3.0 Roll Out, and ultimatly, the DVB-C2 also.

Its certainly going to help the company reduce costs and save space, to offer more stuff to us.

I mean the HD Figures are going to excite people enough already!

I hear one of the other major things they are looking at is becoming a Carbon Neutral Company.

Not sure what that entails, but I know they are focusing on that too.

I think they are going to issue all techs with wood burning hot air balloons instead of vans, and plant a tree for each service call to compensate. :D

They are quite serious in all this corporate responsibility stuff especialy in supporting local grassroot charitys.

Also with the carbon neutral thing, there are taking it very seriously and have said that they arn't going to go for any gimmicks and when working out thier carbon footprint instead of just working how much the company has created directly, They have also taken into account all the STBs that are at customers address as well.

to be honest even just converting vehicles to say LPG can reduce the carbon footprint.

I heared in india they going to sell cars which run on compressed air.

Now if this was made worldwide technology with refilling points it could go a long way in the environment.

To be honest its nice to hearr vm plans. I know some will be sceptical of vm upgrading with the financial problem but all about speculating to accumilate.

If they have a stable fast internet with docsis3.0 then they win customers. Equally if they move to DVB-C2 and the bandwidth is increased HD content could be done and they become a viable oposition to SKY for many more.

At the moment its all about futureproofing its network and creating the building blocks. Either with those who are environment concious to people who want quality and those who want choice of content.

I think its becoming law that Vehicles run on something other than what they run on now, which is Eco-Friendly.

A car running on air would be great, but the Govt. makes too much money off fuel.

This is exactly what VM need to do. Its going to cost money, but save them money at the same time. Reducing costs, also, and allowing more content for TV and better Broadband.

Also, a good thing to get this done before any IPTV plans are made.

A lot of people seem to be having problems with the picture stuttering for a few seconds at a time on and off. I have not seen this stuttering on Sky or Freeview before and not on cable, when I had it a few years ago.

I've already had a tech out to tidy the poor connections up in the street boxes and fit a 6dB attenuator, because of picture break up on Five/UKTV Gardens and pixelation on ITV2/Film 4.

Is this a software issue and will it be fixed in the next update?

thats so true but I would love to see IPTV be an option via sort of VOD the idea to have foreign based channels via IPTV would be good.

I tend to like chinese movies and use the chinese governments IPTV to watch .

I think the next 3 years is

A crucial period for virgin media
B actually could be the most exiting with technological improvements. As at some point boxes will be upgraded.



On the compressed Air car seems its could be going worldwide. Which is great and if you want a peak what future could hold for us.

I think, personally, that if Virgin are to reach the other 70% of the population that isnt Cable-enabled, IPTV is the right thing to do.

Of course, they need a BT Line, but then, thats why Virgin set up their equipment in BT Exchanges.

The original plan was to do this, but that seems to have gone on the back burner when someone worked out how much it would cost.

It's probably a signal problem on your cable. You'll need to get a tech out again.
