Re: Buying a new laptop

Dell are pushing what is legally acceptable as warrenties in the uk. Zing is probably correct as by law the reseller must warrant it for at least 12 months. What kind of warrenty is upto them!
Dell like to offer big upgrades to there warrenty & support services (this is now seperate) which can cost almost as much as the hardware itself in some cases!

i bought both of mine from lidl two years ago and have found it great - wifi installed and have not had a problem with any of the software - unlike my laptop i bought a few years ago from one of the high street vendors and it had to be reconfigured etc etc etc

I don't see why you would not go the extra £40 and get vista premium, an extra 40gb hard drive space, proper speakers and a spare battery. *puzzled*

my macbook claimed something like 6 hours Bah yeah right maybe with minimum backlight the thing idling constantly wi-fi off , no peripherals plugged in it might.

Most manufacturers battery life claims are always based on Ideal conditions
Besides which after a year or 2 the battery will probably be duff anyway, seems to be the case with these modern laptops.
