Re: Strange Router Problem
Yeah, I might try to clone the MAC address of the new router, and see if that works.
It's slightly encouraging that even the enlightened folks on here are scratching their heads over it, and it's not something obvious. |
Re: Strange Router Problem
Quote.............the heavy load was usually downloading large demos from xbox live, while using a PC at the same time.
If you've got the router plugged into your modem via ethernet how are you connecting your Xbox. Are you using the modems USB at the same time? if you are then this would explain your dissconnects as you can only lease one IP address from the virginmedia server. Just a thought but If you got a firewall on your PC if so try disabling it.It could be the firewall blocking http access. |
Re: Strange Router Problem
No USB, I've got the cable modem connected to the router via ethernet, and then two ethernet cables coming out of the router, one for the PC and one for the 360.
I don't think the disconnects are a setup problem though, as it worked fine for a coulple of years. The frequent disconnects only really started when we upgraded to the 20MB package, so I think the router may just be being overloaded. |
