Re: bethere.co.uk???

I have had BE* unlimited for the last month. Previously I had the VM 20 meg cable BB service (actual top speed of 16 meg).
With the BE* line I get 12-14 meg d/l and 1.2 meg u/l.
Even though the d/l is slower, browsing is a heck of a lot faster with BE* and my gaming ping has halved (to about 20ms)!
I am very happy with BE*, their customer service is excellent, as is their tech support. :tu:

That's good to know, thanks.

Glad that BE is working well for you. :)

Re: bethere.co.uk???

I like being on Be. The speed fluctuates between 1.8 MBps and 2.2 (normally hovering nearer the 1.8), but that could be line quality as much as anything, so I am happy. Also, when I have had problems (caused by BT BTW), Be were quick in sorting them out where they could, and helpful to me where I needed to intervene (basically, they told me what I needed to say to BT to get them to fix it).

The only slight problem is that Speedtouch modem/router they supply isn't very good at dealing with wireless inteference, so tends to give slow wireless speeds. No problem for me though. I just shut down the wireless connection, and fired up my old Linksys wrt54G, which copes well.

Re: bethere.co.uk???

I find the wireless to be great for browsing but I use my PC (ethernet) connection for gaming and d/l's.
The BEbox seems to run a lot cooler if you turn it upside down :D

Those are really slow speeds Stuart.....how far are you from the exchange and have you tried connecting your Bebox to the master socket (hidden inside the main BT box) ?

Re: bethere.co.uk???

I too have just dumped VM and am waiting for BT to hook me up so I can get Bethere.
Gonna start on the 8 meg and see what that's like. All I want is a stable gaming connection, so whether its 2, 3 4 or 20 meg wont make a huge difference for my needs.

VMs 20 meg, which I did have was unusable, as pings and latency were up and down, most afternoon and evenings download speeds were under 1 meg and gaming was impossible. I would rather a lower top end download speed but a more stable connection than an insanely fast, but impractical and flaky, 20 meg service that I have unfortunately had to live with for a year.
I m hoping Bethere will solve my dilemna - am 870 metres (straight line) from the exchange - Should that be OK??

I suspect that you will be very happy with your connection :)

I am 708 meter's from the exchange,i would be happy, but bethere is not in my area,so i guess i will have to suffer with the strangle hold of VM.

Ideally you should be close to 20 mb unless your wiring is very poor.

Please come back and post your speed when you're hooked up as I would be very grateful to hear.

Will do......BT in on the 15th and then get Be as soon as I can before VM come to cart off the remains of the broadband equivalent of a carpet offcut ie my modem and anything else with a VM insignia on it.

Congratulations, you are in a broadband enabled area.

The following services are available in your location:
