If you switch the device plugged into the modem, you need to reboot the modem for the new device to work. Your router probably still works because you didn't reboot your modem after switching to your PC.

Have you tried this?

Goto start, run type cmd hit enter, then in the box type ipconfig/release hit enter then type ipconfig/renew again hit enter this should solve your problem.

If that fails reboot your modem & router.
