Re: Linksys WRT300N - NTL
Don't you just love remote diagnosis. A challenge not to be ignored.
As you can't connect from your PC to the Linksys, then the wizzard can't configure the router. It has to do that to detect and set the connection type of the WAN (Internet) port. That's the problem that needs sorting first. Ideas - Firewall? <end of ideas> If you are using ZoneAlarm then the router need to be added to the trusted zone. You will also need to add the CM to the trusted zone so you can logon to it eventually. -- Dave. |
Re: Linksys WRT300N - NTL
tried hard re-set to no avail
Wyl E Cyote, thanks but what do you mean? i am not running zone-alarm |
Re: Linksys WRT300N - NTL
Have you checked or turned off your firewall?
It's quite safe as you don't have a connection to the internet. -- Dave. |
Re: Linksys WRT300N - NTL
Could just be problems at NTL end.
Tried a new rouiter last Friday (6th), would not connect, assumed it was faulty. Tried loads of times, old router worked ok. Tried Sunday morning, connected immediately, ok since. Check the sevice status logs and phone the service status line. Both sohwed imtermittment faults in my area that weekend. |
Re: Linksys WRT300N - NTL
I thing something is stopping your PC from communicating with the router. The status light only shows that there is a working NIC on the other end of the cable.
If you're not using Zone Alarm then you've probably got the Windows firewall or a Norton Firewall enabled. I suggest trying without any firewall enabled. -- Dave. |

Re: Linksys WRT300N - NTL
Am I correct in assuming, in order for you to post on here, you are constantly switching the connection ? lol.
Not really sure what else to suggest. Is the internet light on the router still not lighting up? Have you tried resetting the router to factory defaults and trying again from scratch. Sorru to post so many questions, just going on the assumption you are switching so trying to save you some hassle :) |
Re: Linksys WRT300N - NTL
thanks for all the help you are giving me and dont worry about all the questions
yes i am switching to try out new things i have re-set the router and no luck no light comes up, but when the router re-starts it flickers once (router test i guess) |
Re: Linksys WRT300N - NTL
the only thing i can really think of is that there is either a faulty wire from the modem to the router, or a faulty WAN socket on the router? Sorry, can't really think what else it can be, as the router isn't seeing the internet connection at all.
