My router stays on all the time, i never unplug it even if it needs a reboot. Instaed i go to 192.168.1.1 or whatever your routers settings adress is and press to force a restart of the AP (acess point)

1 of the things I like about my Motorola Surfboard 3100 is that I can reboot via the built-in wotsit via my browser. I can even do a reset to factory settings [needed occasionally] from there, which negates the hassle of finding something small enough to fit in the hole at the back & keep it pressed in while I put the power lead back in.

No problems with the modem in the 6 or so years I've had it and over a year for the router!

Funnily enough, that's about how long I've had my SACM - well, more like 6 1/2. :)

I see you have a Motorola SB3100 and you are on 4mb which will be going up to 10mb shortly, or your area may have had the upgrade.

That modem does not support 10mb so you need to call Tech Support so they can send out a new modem.

Motorola 3100
From October 2000 Customers could also use the Motorola 3100. It is Docsis only (so will not work reliably if at all, on the parts of the network that use Eurodocsis). The 3100 models was Ethernet only, and Motorola soon introduced a model with USB as well, the 4100 (see below).

Does not support 10 or 20Mbps Tiers of Service
