Or perhaps he just hates the fact that 5% of 12 year olds are sexually active? Do you know if he even has any other ideas regarding this or are you stereotyping him because of his beliefs? He might have some perfectly valid and constructive ideas

I think everyone hates the fact, but that doesnt mean we shouldnt start the protection early. In fact it means we should, its recommended its taken before someone reachs puberty so is there a better time to do it?

The idea of blanket vaccination is that you help to stop the spread of the disease full stop.In this case it's better to vaccinate BEFORE sexual activity takes place otherwise one negates the whole point of the exercise.Waiting until they are are old enough(or rather when this chap considers they are old enough) will not cover those who have decided to ignore every Christian and social tenet and are already sexually active. It won't catch every child of course but the numbers will be reduced at around 12 years of age.

Plus the stupid man seems to have forgotten that other at risk group..those who have been raped or sexually abused at a young age.:(

Plus the types of HPV covered are not the ones that show symptoms. Therefor even if you onyl have one sexual partner who is your husband, you still risk catching it and developing cancer. This works best before puberty so even for a religious person this makes sense

Oh dear atheist god. Yet another idiot to add my idiot list, which is getting pretty big already.
He's been near the top of mine for years, since the Jerry Springer lunacy. Bear in mind that 'Christian Voice' means 'Stephen Green' and we'll all get along fine. I've long wondered if I can set up a think tank (as he's described it) on such a flimsy basis and have concluded 'yes'. This explains why I distrust any and all think tanks.

I can spot the obvious flaw in that. Better a pile of infected* children rather than acknowledge rather basic biological and sociological facts.

* Or, of course, pregnant. Let's not forget the Vatican in this, although at least they accept evolution these days.

You do realise this thread's going a bit off-topic, but before the mods point that out, I'd like to point out that the Americans have already started HPV programmes in several states, and their starting age is 11.

Though I'll admit I only know that because it came up in an ER episode...:D

To be honest there's not much to add to the original topic..until the democrats find a solution to the veto.I suspect we will have to wait until there is a Democrat president or a Republican one who feels able to ignore the bible belt, whichever comes first.Until then the subject is stone cold dead and the research will carry on in other countries under license..and any money to be made will be made elsewhere. With any luck that will be here.
