Some speed tests check the speed in both directions.

Become your own ISP.......actually does anyone know how much it costs to start one up. Paying BT wholesale for the use of their lines will be quite alot, I presume.

There is a current price list of central capacity here. Bear in mind, there are many other things to take into account, besides the price for capacity from BT, there is plenty of hardware to purchase.

It wasn't a serious discussion so it doesn't really matter ;)

im currently with cable and will leave soon due to the shapping stuff and the 4 pm stuff.

im looking for anybody who can offer true unlimited and does not shappe or throttle my bandwidth.

is there anything out there.

I do not care how fast it is just as long as it's not 56k

Has anybody used BE internet before?

bethere says its unlimited but it still got fair usage policy, i am with bulldog and honestly speaking if its working fine than its very good but if it gives you problems than you are nowhere and there customer service is one of the worst ever.you can try aol which is a bit expensive but i have used it in the past and did use heavily but its ur choice i got these suggestions.

What a fabulous, friendly, helpful, constructive thread this is.

The guy posts asking for advice on choosing a new ISP and basically gets given grief for daring to consider leaving Virgin and people picking holes in the very standard AUP that the ISP he is considering using have.

Huge thumbs up to the people who did post constructively though.

All ISPs without exception have a FUP, Be have never throttled anyone and the only form of shaping they use is to prioritise business traffic over consumer traffic. They are no more limited than VM were pre-STM. Same goes for Sky Max.

Honestly anyone would think that VM are the only ISP that can offer anything like a service to anyone and the rest of us without it are all getting throttled after downloading 1MB a week and spend most of our time getting 56k like speeds.

Bit slow as there are 2 other PCs running both gaming but:

Download Speed: 15040 kbps (1880 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 2002 kbps (250.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

Hardly appauling results. VM aren't the only ISP that can actually supply internet services to a reasonable standard you know :(
