Re: Virgin On Demand ~ Brilliant
@Gadge: Is the 'old' box upstairs on 'old' software? I had this before I forced the VM upgrade on my Samsung box. Apparently, the VM software uses the same 'new' VOD servers as the V+ box (so they don't have to maintain content across two platforms) but if you're in x-ntl they haven't quite managed to get all the content properly set up yet.
If that makes sense. |
Re: Virgin On Demand ~ Brilliant
Must agree with OP, VoD is the dogs whatsits an gives more than Sky one could ever offer. Never really looked in to it until the other day, and ain't stopped watching stuff since:cool: . Can't wait for my V+ and dogs whatsits package that comes on the 10th. Sky can go whistle for their money, cos VM has 10X more to offer..
PS: Did I read it right that those on top package get the VoD for free all the time? (in other words included in the VIP package) Nice bonus if we do, cos it rocks:cool: |

Re: Virgin On Demand ~ Brilliant
yes if you are on VIP or have TV Size XL then the TV Choice section of VOD is free
of course movies etc are still pay per view once we get the simpsons and all the HBO stuff on there then it will be even better.. VM have said they plan to double the content on here by the end of the year i'm using this via the old blue NTL software has anyone used this on a V+ or VM software ? is it any better.. as at the moment the list is so big it's hard tofind what you want |
Re: Virgin On Demand ~ Brilliant
Just had Virgin TV installed, after being away from Cable for a few years, (Samsung box, quicker than Pace I had a few years ago, Virgin TV branded remote) have Broadband already (old NTL) and VOD is great. I like the idea of being able to watch it when you want and without any ads or talk overs.

Someone is gonna have to make a website if Virgin don't make it easier to navigate, cos i can see me using it a helluva lot and don't want to search through the whole database for new stuff. I've watched so much stuff from it already it's rediculous. Still on Trigger Happy TV atm. |

Catch up vod seems to have a couple of hundred items. Im sure that those that chose to jump ship will live to regret it but whether they will have the courage to change thier mind and return is another thing. |

Re: Virgin On Demand ~ Brilliant
I'm on the old Telewest software in west yorkshire, and it is rather a confusing (long winded) search to find stuff to watch. I'm hoping (but doubt it) the new V+ box will have the VM software, when I get it on Saturday.
Those that do jump ship are fools IMHO. I looked in to what Sky had to offer, and it isn't a patch on VM (even without basic sky channels). My kids watched sky one for Simpsons, my Mrs watched Bones and I watched SG1, thats it. They only ran 1 new episode a week and the rest were repeats. So for me sky is not offering value for money, and they can ask their own customers to foot the bill for Lost and 24:Yikes: :D In fact 24 gets right up my nose, as it's the same crappy story lines all the time. Jack Bauer needs shooting, just so I don't have to hear the tick tock of the adverts for it :p: :p: :p: |

Re: Virgin On Demand ~ Brilliant
Agree, when it works it is brilliant.
Just have to go through the threads on V+ Section of this site, to see the problems people have experinced in recent weeks. I have been without TV on Demand for 3 days now. Hoping that it would come back, as thats how it seems to work. Virgin admit they have probelms with it but customer service 'faults' gets worse. The Overseas Faults service are courteous but pretty useless. After 45 mins they escalate to second line - which means problem not resolved and someone will get back to you in 4 days!! A couple of weeks ago, I had similar situation and was told I would be phoned back in 24 hours. Didn't happen, so phoned them. Was told someone will call back in another 24 hours. Did they come back? Yes, after 4 more days, making it 6 in total. I wonder if Mr Branson gets the same service.... |
Re: Virgin On Demand ~ Brilliant
if would be good if VM would bring out something to rival the Sky Anytime thing where they can watch VOD content on a PC.. ok that's because they can't do VOD but if VM could also offer VOD on a PC then they would have one up on Sky

I contacted CS and they put me through to Retentions and I explained that I don't really have that exciting a TV package without Sky 1 & 2 and asked if Virgin Central could be subtitled. She got her manager to confirm, and as it's a new channel they are currently unable to broadcast subtitles, but hopefully in 12 months time when they have their content built up and compete with Sky One, subtitles should be available. In the meantime, they offered to upgrade my TV Pack to XL and add all the Sky Movie Channels 1-10 at no extra cost (in which most movies are subtitled). They wanted to keep me, because I said I'd cancel the TV and go back to Freeview (which is free). :tu: |
