OK .. there we go, I was connected LIVE today, I've connected everything, router is online, I can even check how quick my connection is - around 7 to 7,3 Mbit (checked just few minutes ago) ... Unfortunatelly i had to come back here with my ntl cable because ... I can not connect to the internet ..

I have my router configuration access, everything is ok, i can ping my router, router do see my 8Mbit connection ... but I can't connect ... why?

I've entered my login and pass from UKOnline

I bought Billion 7300 Router/modem 4 port switch following Your advice - now what is the problem?

I even called UKOnline tech support but the one I've spoken to didn't know why it's not working, and couldn't help me with billion router 'cause "we do not sell these with our broadband so it's not standard"
and told me to contact with billion support ... LOL?

Can anyone tell me what can be the problem?

Re: BT, UKOnline or BE ? aiming for the best on-line gaming ping

hmm, must say I've never heard of "Billion" but there are a number of IT kit manufacturers out there.

Unfortunately the tech support bods are, like most ISPs not going to "support" the kit you've got. It's not them being awkward, more that there are so many variations out there that they can't cover everything.

As we are primarily a cable user support group, it might well be that you need to seek specific help from ADSL users. Do Billion have a support forum?

update:

UKOnline gave me a wrong login ;] i mean they gave me one with CAPITALS when all i had to do was log in with only small letters ...

BTW Rob - if anyone will have any issues with Billion Modems/Routers I recommend this link
http://uk.billion.com/

This router/modem/switch/firewall is a really nice piece of a gear and not expensive as well - my 8Mbit UKOnline + Billion BiPac7300 = rox

just testing everything atm, pinging almoust every UK server below 10ms,
my on-line gaming got into another dimension .. I finally know what is "nlg - no lag gaming" :) I'm not even connected to the main socket

Speed Tests atm around 5800kbit Download/ 680 Kbit Upload / distance - around 750m (1300m line length) from my exchange

Very Happy

BT...I play CS, can only get 1mb due to the distance from the exchange but my ping is rarely above 20 :)

ive just asked bt for interleaving to be disabled on my line, so once they do it i'll have to see what difference that makes.

Its worth noting i have byte interleaving turned ON my line. Apparently you can request it be turned off to decrease ping.

Re: BT, UKOnline or BE ? aiming for the best on-line gaming ping

My connection currently has average pings of 40ms to BBC.net.uk.

And that's with Fast Path instead of Interleaving.

(this is actually fast compared to what it was like before lol).

ISP = Sky BB (which uses Easynet's LLU just like it's fellow family member UK Online).

My line isn't so great...
