Yeah, glad it went well. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Re: Flashing Linksys WRT54G router
DD-WRT is great guys!! Took my laptop to the end of my street and I still get signal! Can't believe a simple firmware upgrade would allow this! :D
Definitely recommend DD-WRT! Just have a quick question though, I have DD-WRT v23 SP1 and I think SP2 is out. Would the update work with my v5 router, if so how would I go about installing the update? |
Re: Flashing Linksys WRT54G router
Yup, that's what I use.
Go to http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads.php then click on the link to dd-wrt.v23 SP2 and download the dd-wrt.v23_sp2_micro.zip file. The important thing is to upgrade from the router gui using the 'micro-generic' file contained within the zip. HTH Glad its went well. Cheers |
Re: Flashing Linksys WRT54G router
Thanks, just got round to updating it. :)
I've noticed under Wireless Packet Info, I've been gettin errors. Received (RX) | 285004 OK, no error | 100% Transmitted (TX) | 199878 OK, 1750 errors | 99% Is this a problem? |
Re: Flashing Linksys WRT54G router
I also get similar results, however the high number of TX errors only appears high initially. My figures at the moment are
Received (RX) 69861878 OK, no error 100% Transmitted (TX) 77881751 OK, 1445 errors 100% The number of TX errors has barely risen since I last rebooted the router (14 days ago). I think the high error rate initially must be something to do with the initialisation process. HTH |
Re: Flashing Linksys WRT54G router
OK. Thanks for clearing that up. :)
Is it good to reboot the router every couple of weeks then or can you just leave it on permanently? |
Re: Flashing Linksys WRT54G router
I've not rebooted since I flashed on DD-WRT about 3 weeks ago. Prior to that I was rebooting every other day due to dropouts.
I am now subscribing to the old 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' adage! |
Re: Flashing Linksys WRT54G router
Thanks. I've not had any problems with it except I've got 1826 errors for Transmitted (TX) now. I think I will just leave it on permanently...

Re: Flashing Linksys WRT54G router
how can you boos the signal on this router as we tend to get a few drop outs when we use the desktop and the laptop ?
