Black remote controls are not available anymore, if you want one they have thousands on eBay, they are better than the silver remotes imho.

As for ordering the new remote it's a simple process but they are not shipped by Telewest and that's why we adv the 15 day sla for delivery.

Give us a call tonight on 151 at about 6ish you never know might speak to me, I'll order you one.

Nice of you to offer, but as you say, I prefer the black one myself, and there’s nothing wrong with mine; it was just that this idiot told me I needed a new silver one to “resetâà ¢â€šÂ¬Ã‚Â� my box, and everything would be OK :dozey:

All I want is for someone to sort the volume out. You wouldn’t think it'd be that hard. Talking to others, and reading the replies from those who’ve been kind enough to help, it’s either the gain on the line or new STBs are intrinsically much lower volume – in which case I want an old one please!

Sorry, I keep forgetting to check... I believe it's whatever the current model of Telewest box is though - whatever a new subscriber would get. I WILL check tonight. Unless there are pictures anywhere?

OK, the old box I had was a 1000, as far as I can tell; the new one is a 4200, if that helps. I am going to be SO ****ed off if the 4200 has such an intrinsically low volume level that I have to turn the telly up to the point where it hums.

My poxy £25 Freeview box has about 3 times the volume...

If you really do have a 4200, that's made by Scientific-Atlanta, not Pace. Mine's nice and loud, so that would suggest yours is faulty. Get them to come out to look at it.
