Not really that great a solution if you're reckoning on transferring large files about though mind you.

Re: HomePlug Network Setup

its ok if you buy the faster versions. Its simple and it is more secuure than wireless. Also its more stable my wireless network isnt stable so im going to have either hardwire to my daughters room (its only room above where router is) or go homeplug

Re: HomePlug Network Setup

Same experience I had. Wireless was just too unstable, fluctuating wildly. HomePlug sorted that out a treat. To be honest, the 85mbps suit me, and are faster then 54g wireless. It does what I want it to do, at speeds I'm happy with. And runs my 10mb NTL AT 10mb, wheras over wireless it would for some strange reason half it to 5mb.

They reckon the following:

PL-14PE - Max TP: 8Mbps - Typ TP: 4-6Mbps
PL-85PE - Max TP: 40Mbps - Typ TP: 15-20Mbps
PL-200PE - Max TP: 120Mbps - Typ TP: 50-70Mbps
54g WiFi - Typ TP: 14Mbps

All these diagrams is confusing me now.

Question - Can I just use my current NTL 250 + Router with as many Homeplug devices as I want or am I limited to 4 (as 4 is the limit of hardwired connections on the router anyway)

Re: HomePlug Network Setup

yes you can there is a limit but you only use one lan port off the router all secondary homeplugs route to the primary directly connected to lan port
